Prune Cake. We put it in loaf pans so maybe should be called
Prune Bread ........Bake 325 Time according to size of loaf pans

1 cup oleo or butter
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 cups chopped dates
2 cups of water

Bring to a boil. Cool til can hold hand on bottom of pan.

Stir in:
3 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chopped English Walnuts
1 cup chopped pitted prunes
several marchino cherries chopped

Add this to cooled liquid mixture. Fill three small loaf pans or two regular bread pans that have been sprayed and dusted with flour. Bake til "broom stick" straw comes out clean...Okay use a tooth pick. Be modern... Tell me where you find the broom stick if you do. ;o) Very good and moist. We like it with cream cheese spread on it. Keeps a long time. (If it lasts) We wrap in foil and put in the refrigerator for long term keeping (if want to bake it ahead for Christmas or such.) Very good. Kind of like a fruit cake but without all the citrus. Merry Christmas to our Church Away From Home
